OUR HISTORY

By God’s grace, Lighthouse Bible Church of Orange County had its humble birth as Pillar Bible Church, when a group of likeminded men and women prayerfully gathered together to plant a church. After a year of meeting at a member’s home, we publicly launched on November 16, 2003. The Lord provided the church’s first regular meeting place at Hermosa Drive Elementary School in Fullerton, beginning on December 14, 2003.  The church body called Pastor James H. Lee as its founding pastor. And we celebrated our inaugural service on April 25, 2004, with Dr. Alex Montoya as our guest speaker.

The church then moved to Rolling Hills Elementary School in Fullerton on June 13, 2004.  Not long after, the church was formally accepted into the Southern Baptist Convention on July 15, 2004. On Resurrection Sunday, March 25, 2005, the church celebrated its first baptism service. On Sunday, May 5, 2005, the church moved it services to Heritage Inn Hotel in Fullerton, CA.  The first official membership class of 21 brothers and sisters made a public pledge to our church on June 12, 2005.  Then on February 1, 2009, the church affirmed its first elders and deacons. On October 4, 2009, the church moved from Heritage Inn Hotel to its current Sunday facility at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Orange.

After many years of fostering a gospel partnership and mutual affection with the Lighthouse Alliance of churches, we replanted as Lighthouse Bible Church of Orange County on June 29, 2014. We celebrated this occasion with our “first” service on October 12, 2014, with Pastor Philip DeCourcy.

After 18 years of faithful service, our founding pastor announced his intention to become an associate pastor at a sister church. This was due to the increasing needs of his family and parents and a growing conviction and desire that his best stewardship for the next season of his ministry was to fill a support role. With deep gratitude to the Lord for the monumental mercy and pure grace in calling and sustaining him, our church joyfully celebrated with him and his family on their last Sunday on June 13, 2021.

By God’s grace, after a 6-month pastoral search process, Jason Park was called in late 2021 as our next Pastor-Teacher. We rejoice in bringing him and his family to be a cherished part of our church.
